    You don't warm up for each exercise on a full body workout?

    Just use free weights tbh

      Your muscles don’t know if the weight is free weight or machine … I used to be all free weights too but machines are actually so good I almost want to say better than free weights for pure hypertrophy… just look at Phil Heath, machines only Mr Olympia

    Also the pad placement and firmness. I used some 'precor' equipment on a cruise ship and it mostly sucked. Pads were in awkward places and were hard as a rock, eg. when pads are super hard or in the wrong place on a quad extension or ham curl machine, it makes it really uncomfortable. My current gym has 'cybex prestige', which has a good feel to it.

    Definitely #1 is friction. If it feels like your machine is going through traces of glue while lifting and lowering, you’re better off using free weights. Great video.

    The both have carry over, but "cardio" predominantly improves your cardio output which improves your aerobic capacity. Resistance training predominantly improves your muscular, strength and endurance. This is basic stuff.

    Can we substitute it with flat bench dumbbell pullover?

    • @bigdre4life92
      @bigdre4life92 18 годин тому

      Jay would probably say no, since that exercise has an unfavorable strength curve; it provides less and less resistance closer you get to the midline of your body. Just do a pull-down instead if you don’t have access to a pullover machine.

    Which are the best alternatives if you cannot find this machine at your gym? It would be really interesting if you performed a video showing other possibilities.

    This machine might as well be a mythical creature. I have barely seen these in any of the gyms I’ve been to. Would definitely be helpful for those with elbow issues, for sure.

    What’s the point of tempo? If the point of tempo is to reduce momentum, why not just do a static exercise? You would eliminate force curves and would only have to count time instead of trying to focus on tempo and rep count while also trying to focus on exerting max effort.

  • @user-mz1ym8pq8m
    @user-mz1ym8pq8m 2 дні тому

    Hang on - there are multiple studies now not just one that include a research arm of participants performing partially shortened reps as a comparison. So that contradicts your philosophy in 2 ways 1/you advocate super slow tempo to reduce force suggesting intensity of effort is the only factor of importance. However when debunking this latest research your argument is that at a lengthened position actin/myosin overlap is low and result is inadequate amount of force to produce optimal stimulus? 2/you make some huge assumptions that the researched groups experienced varying levels of intensity of effort. Further more is it not the reps taken to near failure that induce the intensity of effort that really matters? Whether you perform at slow rep or normal tempo the effort increases as fatigue increases.

      @user-mz1ym8pq8m 2 дні тому

      Further more you are using mechanism of action models to support your theory when sound research on human controls counter them. It's why we perform well structured research as whilst a mechanism may show promise in isolation they don't always correlate in real life application on human studies

    personally i dont understand the argument that faster tempo is worse for muscle growth. I always saw the best strength gains with explosive concentric and decently controlled eccentric. and people allways try to differentiate musclegrowth and strength when they are intertwined. if your doing 70lbs for 12 reps and 100lbs for 12 reps your going to be bigger doing more weight...simple as that. tempo, volume etc are ways to progressive overload but when the rubber meets the road you need to add weight.

    This video assured me I'm doing my workouts correctly. Don't let anyone tell you this video style is boring Jay! We absolutely need them. More of you working out please, because I'm convinced every time you workout you'll either tell us something new (that you forgot to mention the last time) or you'll tell us something similar (which emphasizes how important it is for us to remember it)
